Overview - Update Searching

One of the most powerful and easy to use features of INTERFACE™. Match new listings against an unlimited number of Prospective Buyer's search profiles and let the computer track all the new listings and listing changes as they are entered into the system.

How does Update Searching work?

Update searching works on the basis of saving a group of search profiles. However as well as storing the search profiles, update searching also stores for each prospect, a list of everything that you have already found under their stored search profile. Think of each prospect as having a saved search and a corresponding saved list. When you run the update search it goes through each prospect and runs the search finding all matches. However it does not display the matches it is finding, but rather it compares them to the matches it has already found on the saved list. If the listing is already on the list then it is not a new match and it is ignored. Those listings that are not on the list are new matches. They are displayed that day under the name of the prospect and they are also automatically added to the bottom of the saved list (so they will not be displayed next time). It really helps to understand that you create and maintain both a saved search and a saved list for each prospect in your update search system. It therefore is much easier to use update searching feature if you understand:

1) the file and folder structure on your hard drive so you know where things are being saved,
2) how to save a search profile
3) how to save a list.
You should review these sections and familiarize yourself with these concepts before you tackle update searching.
